Hello everyone, Capt Vinnie here…This weeks report is a good one with some quality catches right off the coast of Fort Lauderdale. We will start this week on the inshore report first, early mornings have been the most successful as of late, trolling has been somewhat slow though there has been a good amount of small bonitos around eating almost everything in sight, if your lucky the prize catch right now is wahoo, which have been around and some good size ones too, trolling a bait under the surface is going to be the most effective way to target them right now, seawitches and bonito strips are always a great combo, other then wahoo there has been some sailfish around also, mostly striking surface baits either rigged ballyhoos or strips. Its a great sign to see some sailfish coming around so early in the season. Besides trolling the snapper fishing this week has really picked up. Vermillion snapper and a few yellow eye snapper have been biting very well on some of the deeper bottom fishing spots with structure, a multiple hook rig with at least 2 pieces of cut bait has been working best, we like to use bonito because we have it fresh daily and it stays on the hook better then anything else. Some of the snappers have been as big as 3 to 4lbs. Last but not least on the inshore side there has been some large big game sharks, although protected from harvest catching a large shark is a great way to get experience of something that really fights hard. Moving to the offshore side there has been a good report of mahi offshore about 10 miles out. On the inshore side we have been having dirty green water but out on the offshore side there has been a current edge with seaweed and floating debris and that is where the mahi have been. You need to run out until you find the color change and that is where your going to want to start fishing. I would still recommend an all day trip if your looking to target mahi just because that extra time could be the difference between catching a few fish or filling up the entire cooler, I also still think that live bait is something you want to bring out there with you just incase you get into a school, because that is something they can’t resist. This week please be sure to check out some of the great photos we have of some recent catches that were caught while out on our deep sea fishing charters, also remember to follow us on social media platforms like facebook and instagram @Ybnormalsportfishing for daily fishing content. We still have a few weeks left for the month of September and we do have availability if your looking to do some deep sea fishing, so if your coming down to Fort Lauderdale please look us up we would love to show you a great time out on the water. More later…

Hello everyone Capt. Vinnie here, this week I have a nice report for you guys, we will start on the inshore side of things, so for the inshore report there has been some nice kingfish, bonitos, and plenty of barracudas on the troll right now in the early mornings, trolling surface baits with ballyhoos, or strips has been a great choice to get some bites, also using planners to take baits under the surface has been a good choice to. Since the storm that we had last week we received heavily gusts of wind from the westerly direction and it has made the water quite dirty, so brighter color lures have been a good choice. other then trolling the bottom fishing on the reef for yellowtail snapper has been good when there is north current, anchoring up and chumming on the reef is a great way to build a spot and bring the fish to you. When anchoring up and chumming we like to throw some live baits out which can bring in some larger fish like kingfish, bonitos, and possibly sailfish too. Moving offshore this week there has been a few blackfin tuna starting to show up in depths around 300 feet. There has been some wahoo around as well, while offshore finding any type of floating debris has been holding wahoo, specially a floating wood pallet or bamboo etc. The best way to target wahoo when fishing some type of floating debris is to troll a planner by it with a blue drone spoon or a sea witch with a strip, if there is wahoo underneath the debris they are aggressive and usually will hit your lure fairly quickly. As far as a mahi report this week there was some , but due to the storm and the green dirty water we have been having they have been very hard to find, but I would imagine the water beginning to clean up as we move towards next week. Please take a minute to check out some of the great photos we have this week of some recent catches while out on our deep sea fishing charters and remember to give us a like a follow for daily fishing content on Facebook and instagram @Ybnormalsportfishing. September is finally here and our busy season has come to and end but that doesn’t mean that the fishing has slowed down any so if your coming to Fort Lauderdale and looking to do some deep sea fishing now is a great time to get out on the water.

Hello everyone Capt. Vinnie here, this weeks report I would say this is the report that everyone has been waiting for. Lets gets right into it, offshore the fishing has been excellent early morning and late afternoons has been the best, there has been a good amount of mahi mahi on any type of floating debris like bamboo logs, wood pallets, or cargo nets, locating birds has been also a great way to find some mahi right now and the last thing to look for is rips or current edges. The size of the mahi right now are great as well, I would say the average is around 10lbs with some 25lb fish in the mix, when getting into a school of mahi right now live bait is going to be key in order to keep there attention when they loose interest, one thing to remember when mahi fishing is that mahi are very aggressive and when your in a school it can be fast and furious and in order for a school to stay with you it is important to keep a hooked fish in the water. I still strongly recommend if your looking to catch some mahi is an 8 hour trip, the fish have been further offshore and some days are better then others the extra time could be the difference in catching a few or really loading the cooler full of fish. Also offshore on floating debris there has been some wahoo and large rainbow runners, when approaching some floating debris the best way to target the wahoo that might be underneath it is to troll a spoon fished on a planner in order to take it down under the surface, it only takes a few passes by the floater to find out if there is a wahoo underneath it usually happens instantly. Moving inshore on the reef the fishing has been subpar mostly slow, early mornings there has been some kingfish just on the edge of the reef and a few bonitos, trolling has been the best technique. Shipwrecks and ledges have been holding some larger barracuda right now as well. The water has been green in color and not much current on the inshore side of things which is why I believe the fishing has been on the slower side. This week please be sure to check out some of the great photos we have of some recent catches caught while out on our deep sea fishing charters. Also remember to give us a follow on social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram @Ybnormalsportfishing for daily fishing content. As September approaches the mahi fishing should remain strong and I would imagine that the slower reef bite is just a temporary thing and should begin to improve here shortly, we have availability for the upcoming month and if your heading down to Fort Lauderdale and looking to do some deep sea fishing please look us up we would love to show you a great time on the water.

Hello everyone, Capt. Vinnie here this week we have another great report for you guys, starting offshore the mahi mahi have been around pretty consistent in around the 900 foot range, still finding birds is always key to success, but anything floating can always be a great find as well, there has been some seaweed offshore to that has had some fish on it as well. I still recommend booking an 8 hour trip if you are in search of mahi, it can be done in a shorter trip but some days there is alot more looking then catching and that extra 2 hours could be the difference from having a slow day or absolutely killing it. On the inshore side of things is where majority of the action has been, on the edge of the reef anchoring up and chumming has been a great way to target yellowtail snapper, this week we had some very favorable conditions in order to do this type of fishing, there has been some heavy current and calm seas which makes for a good recipe to anchor up and try to catch some yellowtail snappers. Also while anchoring up fishing some live baits have been producing some very large kingfish, the longer you sit on a spot and the more you chum the more fish you attract. Moving a little bit deeper on the troll there has been some kingfish as well, and plenty of bonito action too, although bonito isn’t the best table fare fish they put up a great fight. Early mornings on the troll have been producing some blackfin tunas as well. Last but not least wreck fishing has been good this week when the current backed off there has been some larger amberjacks on some of the sunken ship wrecks off the coast of Fort Lauderdale, live bait has been working fairly well for the amberjacks. Amberjacks are hard fighters and also pretty good on the dinner table. This week please be sure to check out some of the great photos we have of some recent catches caught while out on our deep sea fishing charters, and remember to give us a like and follow on social media platforms like facebook and instagram @Ybnormalsportfishing for daily fishing content. To end this weeks report it seems that the mahi fishing is beginning to heat up as well as some tuna action too, The temps are still hot but the fish are biting so if your coming to Fort Lauderdale and looking to do some deep sea fishing please look us up we would love to show you a great time on the water.

Hello everyone, Capt. Vinnie here, finally the report that everyone has been waiting for, we will start offshore first, the mahi have been in full force off the coast of Fort Lauderdale finding floating debris has been a great way to find schools of fish but it seems that the birds have been the absolute best thing you can find plain and simple, schools of birds flying just above the surface is an indication that there is fish right beneath them. When locating the birds we have been trolling through them with mostly surface baits, keeping it simple, fresh bonito strips and mylar seawitches are always a great combination and our go to choice. There has been a mix size on the mahi right now some are undersize and some are 5-10lbs with an occasional larger one mixed in. When getting into a school it is important to have something that will keep there interest and live baits like pilchards is something that you can’t go wrong with. We had some great days this week catching up to 30 mahi on one trip, granted not all keepers but still very very fun. Right now an all day trip of 8 hours is needed in order to look for mahi, they have been anywhere from 10 to 15 miles offshore and sometimes it takes time to find them. Moving inshore there still has been some summertime sailfish around which is always an awesome thing to see. Also plenty of bonito and a few blackfin tunas starting to show up in the mix, trolling the deeper part of the reef around 200 feet has been a good area to try and target the tuna and early morning has been best. Last but not least the snapper fishing remains very good as of late as long as the conditions present themselves accordingly. Yellowtail snappers have ben biting on the shallow reefs as deep as 70 feet and in the depths around 300 feet there has been some nice sized vermillion snappers too, all snappers are great to eat on the dinner table as well as fun to catch. This week please check out some of the great photos of some recent catches we had while out on our deep sea fishing charters, and remember to give us a follow on social media platforms like facebook and instagram @Ybnormalsportfishing for daily fishing content. The mahi finally made it to Fort Lauderdale and it should only get better from here, August is a great time to fish some if your coming down to Fort Lauderdale and looking to do some deep sea fishing please look us up we would love to show you a great time on the water…
Capt. Vinnie (954)-559-4700

Hello everyone, Capt. Vinnie here this week in the Fort Lauderdale area we are going to start the report off with an offshore report, this week we had a series of longer trips around 8 hours so I have been going offshore in search of mahi mahi. Now we have been getting a few mahi mahi on these 8 hour trips but not as good as I would of liked to see I still think it is a tad early but it is good to see. Most of the mahi that we have been catching the last few days have been far offshore anywhere from 15 miles to 17 miles, thats why the all day trip is a must. Birds have been the magic ticket to catching fish right now, although there is a few areas with scattered seaweed, birds are always going to be the guarantee. We did catch a very nice sized bull mahi this week that was 58inches long and weighed in at 34lbs (pictured) one of our great clients caught it for his birthday. Congrats on the great fish and happy birthday! Moving inshore the snapper fishing remains hot on the reef when the conditions and right, yellowtail snapper, mangrove snapper, and mutton snapper would be the catch as of late. Anchoring up and chumming is going to be the preferred method to target the snappers right now. Trolling on the reef using planers to take baits down under the surface has been key to being successful with the hotter water temperatures. Plenty of bonito are still eating everything insight as well as a few king mackeral. Moving a littler deeper there has been blackfin tuna and wahoo but early mornings and late afternoons have been the best. Still plenty of actions and lots of options open of fish to catch right now off the coast of Fort Lauderdale. This week please be sure to check out some of the great photos we have of some recent catches while out on our deep sea fishing charters, and remember to give us a like and follow on facebook and instagram @Ybnormalsportfishing for daily fishing content. We have a good amount of availability for the month of august so if your coming down to Fort Lauderdale and looking to do some deep sea fishing look us up we would love to show you a great time on the water.
