Hello everyone Capt. Vinnie here, great report this week for you guys seems that the spring fishing has arrived just in time. This week we are going to start on the inshore side of things, now for the last few months the reef has been pretty quiet not much biting besides a few barracudas and a few snappers but this week we have been seeing a few kingfish finally, trolling for them in depths around 100 feet has been a good place to start, fresh bonito strips or ballyhoo fished on a planner has been a good choice for the kings, another way that has been producing some larger kings is kite fishing with live bait in shallow waters as well, live baits splashing on the surface has been enticing the kings to strike. One last thing on the inshore side of things that has been showing up is some larger mahi mahi, there has been alot of baitfish in the area as of late, flying fish to be precise and there has been some larger mahi right behind them. The mahi is not something you can target right now but it something that you could say would be considered right place right time. Moving to the offshore side of things early mornings has been producing some wahoo, the depths of 200 to 400 feet has been the best area to look for wahoo early morning, trolling at faster speeds is a great way to entice a wahoo into striking, also while looking for wahoo there has been quite a bit of blackfin tuna although the bite on the tuna has been alot better in the afternoons in my opinion. Last but not least this week there has been some very large big game sharks in the Fort Lauderdale area, we have a photo this week of a Great hammerhead shark that we recently caught on one of our deep sea fishing charters that was around 130 inches (est) that we fought for over 2 hours on heavy 80lb class tackle. We safely released after snapping a picture. Deeper water has been better to set up for the sharks although its far from a guarantee to catch one its a great way to end out a trip and make some great memories. Unfortunately this week not much of a bottom fishing report, its been a little choppy and I haven’t been doing much bottom fishing as of late. This week be sure to check out some of the great photos of some recent catches that we have had while out on our deep sea fishing charters and be sure to give us a like and follow on social media platforms like facebook and Instagram @Ybnormalsportfishing for daily fishing content. In closing seems like spring fishing is in full swing lots of different fish biting right now and plenty of action, some days better then others but thats why its called fishing you just never know… If your coming to the Fort Lauderdale area and looking to do some deep sea fishing please look us up we would love to show you a good time out on the water….More later
