This week has been a wet one with lots of heavy rain, but the Ft Lauderale fishing has been somewhat good on the days we can get out. We have been doing mostly trolling with planners and seawitches rigged with bonito strips, there has been a pretty consistent bite of king mackeral between the depths of 90-130 feet of water, as well as some bonito and very large barracuda, a few tuna as well out a little deeper in depths of 250 feet of water.
We are starting to see some mahi mahi or dolphin fish showing up out in water as deep as 800 feet, looking for scattered seaweed or any kind of objects floating is always a good place to look for these fish as well as finding birds too. One other thing I can report is the shark fishing this week has been very good and we have a great photo of a very nice hammerhead shark that we recently caught, the month of may and June are great times to get out and do some big game fishing for a sea monster, although they are only catch and release it is still a great fish to catch with most battles lasting an hour.
This week for night time fishing I don’t have much to report I have not been out at night this week, with heavy rain the snapper fishing tends to not be as good as it would normally when there is no rain, I would imagine that it will pick up as soon as the salinity of the ocean returns to normal. We have some availability the next couple weeks if your looking for a deep sea fishing adventure please give us a call.
